Friday we docked in Montevideo, Uruguay. This is the third time we have been here. We did not dock until 3pm. We decided not to do the walking tour as my back is still acting up. And we have seen all the sights before.
The morning was at sea. So we decided not to swim until after we arrive when all the passengers will be off touring. We worked on the crossword puzzles and I do the daily quiz. The winner is picked at random so even if you get them all correct, you might not win. I have won once so far.
Montevideo lies almost directly across the Rio de la Plata from Buenos Aires. The city used to be walled and that area is now it is called Ciudad Vieja. They are working hard to restore the area as it had become run down in the past. Most people opted to live out of the walled area. But it is coming back to life.
While we were docked, we took on more supplies.
A view of the city from the ship.
What you see here is the old town.
And an overview of the entire city.
They are getting more modern which does not seem to fit.
We did swim in the afternoon for one hour. One of the stewards said it was like a ghost ship with almost everyone off. We cleaned up and had a meeting with Grunden the cruise consultant. We booked a new cruise for next year. We were going to do the world cruise but have decided not to be away that long. We would rather take cruises of about one month more frequently instead. The one next year is only 20 days over our anniversary. And on the new ship.
Dinner in Compass Rose. Not many eating there so I guess some people decided to eat in town. We leave her at 9pm.
