Buenos Aires in Pictures

So here are the pictures from day 2 in Buenos Aires.

We find McDonald's in every city we visit.  This is the menu of the one on Florida Avenue in Buenos Aires.  One American Dollar is about 15 Argentine Peso.

The Avenues are wide and mostly one way.  Being Sunday, not much traffic.

The close up view of the Avenue.

Some of the great buildings in the city.

This is Florida Avenue.  Only people can travel on it.  Lots of shops but most were closed.

We found this building and Bob thought Gretchen might be able to identify the type of column seen here.  The building looks Greek to us but what a surprise when we entered.

The hop on hop off buses outside the Greek style building.  The dome behind the front gives you some idea of what the building is.

The were these fences along the front of the building.  We thnk it is for protection and not sure if they are up all the time.

But this is what the building is.

And this is the inside of the building.  We now know it is the Cathedral.  Mass was going on so we stayed and waited for it to end.

The altar of the Cathedral.  Just before communion was served.

The local priest.  The purple is because we are in the lent season.

The front of the church.

This is the tomb of Jose de San Martin.  The two soldiers stand there all the time the Cathedral is open.  Not sure if they do it round the clock.

And the favorite son of the Cathedral.

Some of the buildings here in Buenos Aires.  We found this one unique.

On our walk back, the Gallery of the Pacific was open but only to the food court.  The food court is on the lower level.  They have this cafe and then around the corner you find things like KFC, etc.
Very nice restrooms that come in handy.

Across from the Marriott is this lovely park.

The park in full bloom.  And the tower in the background.

More beautiful trees in the park.

To get back to the ship, you need to take the inter port shuttle.  There were not many of us on this shuttle.  That is the back of Dana and Sandy.  They are from Huntsville Arkansas.  They are doing the entire trip and have the cabin next to us.
