Buenos Aires - Day 3

Monday was our third day here in Buenos Aires.  We got up early and headed to the pool to swim.  The man was going to clean the pool so we sat on the deck chair and waited for him to finish.  Then we did get to swim for one hour.  Had the pool to ourselves.

Cleaned up and headed back up to La Veranda for a light breakfast.  And then we took the port shuttle to the terminal where we just missed the shuttle to take us into town.  Bob realized he had forgotten his camera, so he took the port shuttle back to the ship and I waited in the terminal.  He did not make it back in time for the next shuttle but the lady offered us a ride into town by private car to the Stern store.  The jewelry store is right next to our regular shuttle stop.

We then bought two tickets for the open air tour.  This is like a hop on hop off bus but instead of just dropping you off, they wait with you, give you a time to be back and then continue with the tour.  The first stop was in the area of the Cathedral.  Since I was there yesterday, I stayed on the bus while Bob got off.  The bus then drove away and I got a little concerned but it seems he had to get gas for the bus. We returned to pick up the passengers and then drove around the city.  Passed the soccer stadium and then stopped at La Boca area.  The guide told us to meet him at 1pm at the spot where he told us and at a little before that time, we were just walking around.  We did spot him but he was talking to one of the ladies in her tango dress.  So we just waited for the group but the group never arrived.  He took off running and we were left standing there wondering what he was going to do.  We thought he would bring the bus to the area he stated, but that never happened.  So we went to where he headed but no bus.  We were stranded.  This is not an area near where we needed to be so we decided to take a taxi back to the shuttle stop.  We were lucky that a taxi was just letting off passengers and we had to talk him into taking us as he only wanted pesos and we only had dollars.  I was willing to pay him almost anything to get us back to the shuttle stop.  He finally agreed and we were saved.

Back on the ship for a late lunch.  Then a nap for Bob and I worked on the daily quiz.  Had to hurry as you need to hand it in by 3pm.

Dressed for dinner and started with cocktails in the Mariner Lounge.  Dana and Sandy joined us as we had arranged to eat with them.  We had a great time learning about them.  Dinner was at a great pace and we finished about 10pm.  We were almost the last ones in the Compass Rose.  We then headed to the suite and bed.
