Rio in Pictures.

The following pictures are of our sail into Rio.  The rest of the pictures will come later.

The weather was overcast and you could just see the statue above the clouds.

The statue of Christ the Redeemer is very impressive.  You really can tell how very large it is as we are far away and it stands tall.

Very dramatic with the clouds all around and then you see the statue above it all.

Just a view of the harbor as we sailed in.  By the afternoon, all the cloud cover had disappeared and it ended up being hot, hot, hot.

This is the famous Copacabana beach.  This area will be one of the four "Olympic Zones" during the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Another view of the city from the harbor.

This is one of the longest bridges I have ever seen.

The fort in the middle of the harbor.

The airport is right next to the port and we watched this plane make it landing approach.

Followed it down to landing.

The city from the harbor once more.

The orange buildings are terminal buildings here at the port.  We are now docked at the third one on the right.  The port will be housing four cruise ships during the Olympics for hotels.  The are not finished working on the paths and the surrounding areas.  They have a lot to do before August comes.  They say they will be ready but only time will tell.  Yesterday, we watched the workers take a nap at lunch time. They actually lay down and sleep right on the job site.
