Panama Canal Transit

Sunday was the day we transited the Panama Canal.  This is now our 6th time and each and every time we see something new and exciting.  We are still amazed that this project was built in 1914.  The new set of locks was to be completed by 2014 in time for the 100 year celebration of the Canal but it is not done yet.  They now are projecting it will be ready by summer 2016.  We will see.

We got up early and did our exercises and then had champagne and caviar along with eggs Benedict for me.  A nice way to start the day.  The day was hot, sunny, along with an occasional rain shower.

When we did this cruise in 2102, I did get to post one picture of the ship in the canal.  This time I do not have any pictures to share until Bob downloads them.  Bob brought a new computer and is having trouble learning the new system.  We should have practiced at home but it never occurred to us that this computer would be different from the last one.

I went to needlepoint in the afternoon and stayed for tea and trivia but did not play.  Just tried to answer some of the questions and found out I have a lot to learn.

Cocktails with Jean and Harry and then dinner in Compass Rose with them.  Funny, we entered the lounge and they were at the bar and asked if they could join us.  We said yes and the bartender borought them their drinks so we ordered our martinis with blue cheese stuffed olives and then one of the bar guys brought us the Old Fashioned and Manhattan that we have been drinking this cruise.  So when the bartender come with our martinis, he was surprised.  We told him we changed our habit.  We did not drink all four drinks.

Did not go to the show as it was the lead singer from the ship.  Back to the cabin to read.

Monday is a sea day so much of the same.  Swimming, needlepoint, lecture, tea, and then dinner in Prime 7.  Our first time this cruise.
